Phase one of the Clays Mill Road Project is complete. It involves the stretch of road from Keithshire Way to Higbee Mill Road in Lexington. The road has new curbs and gutters, sidewalks, and bike lanes. This was a $3.2 million project. The next part of the updates is phase 2, which involves the area between Higbee Mill to Twain Ridge Road and
is set to begin next Spring.

Jonathan Nieman will be presenting at the 55th Annual KY Water & Wastewater Operators' Conference on Monday, April 16th at 11:00 AM in the French Room. The topic Mr. Nieman is covering will be Combined Sewer Separation: A Constructed Wetland Approach.

BLUEGRASS STOCKYARDS AWARDED WATER QUALITY GRANT!

CDP prepared a 2012 LFUCG Water Quality Incentive Grant for the Bluegrass Stockyards. The Bluegrass Stockyards received the only fully funded grant from LFUCG. The focus of the grant will be to improve water quality exiting the stockyard's property.

Using Stormwater Wetlands to Improve Water Quality and Habitat

This workshop is sponsored by the University of Kentucky in partnership with Tom Biebighauser of the U.S. Forest Service and Liz Bullock of CDP as part of an LFUCG Stormwater Incentive Grant. This FREE workshop will be held in Owensboro, Kentucky and will feature a large stormwater wetland project, Devin's Ditch. Pre-registration is required so register now!

CDP recently completed their 14th survey project under their current contract with the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), a Division of the Department of Agriculture. CDP's five year contract with NRCS intiated in 2008 and has included providing Professional Surveying services for the NRCS Wetland Reserve Program. This most recent project was a 60 acre Wetland Reserve Easement located in Fleming County, Kentucky.

CDP was recently selected for a Contingency Service Agreement with Northern Kentucky Water District (NKWD) to provide Surveying & Water Main Design Services. CDP's 2009 contract with NKWD recently expired and we were very pleased to have been selected again. NKWD provides water service to over 80,000 residential, commercial, industrial and wholesale customers in Northern Kentucky.

CDP recently hired Lisa Wright, Landscape Architecture Graduate; Evan McDaniel, Landscape Architecture Graduate; and Cheryl Garner, CADD technician.

CDP was recently awarded by the Kentucky Chapter of the KY American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA), the Merit Award for the Georgetown Fire Station BMP Parking Lot. This project has also received national attention for its sustainable design, green infrastructure and stormwater management practices.

CDP is very pleased to welcome Ed Sidebotham and Katie Pentecost, RLA, LEED AP BD+C to its team. Mr. Sidebotham has joined CDP as the Senior Designer and has over 20 years of experience in designing and drafting of wastewater collection and transportation systems. His experience also includes site development design, water distribution systems and construction inspection.  Ms. Pentecost is a Landscape Architect with a wide range of experience in construction and planning projects both small and large scale- collaborating with team members consisting of other architects, engineers, contractors and owners.

Construction at the South Elkhorn Pump Station is nearly complete. Currently, the landscape material and the water quality rain garden are being installed. The rain garden and permeable concrete pavement are two examples of green infrastructure at this facility, which services as a demonstration project for LFUCG.

Spring has sprung! Nicholasville's Streetscape construction rebar flowers are going on Main Street. After a long winter, construction activity has returned to Nicholasville's Main Street. Pictures show the footer and reinforcement steel for steps and ramps along Main Street.

The Bluegrass Rain Garden Alliance demonstrated the Rain Garden Installations on Wednesday, October 15th, and Friday, October 17, at the Good Foods Coop on 455 Southland Drive, and at Oleika Shriner's Temple at 326 Southland Drive, Lexington KY. CDP secured the grant from Kentucky American Water and assisted with securing additional funding and support for the project.  CDP has donated all time associated with the design and community outreach for this project.
