Lewis Dixon, (CDP) gave a project overview at the US 68 Public Information Meeting Tuesday, June 23, 2016.
CDP Engineers was contracted by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, District 3 to study alignment configurations for three spot improvements sections (Section 4, 5, and 6) along US 68 in Metcalfe and Green Counties. Two alignment configurations (Red and Yellow) were studied for Section 4, which is all in Metcalfe County and begins at approximate MP 17.6 (near the intersection with KY 70) and ends near approximate MP 18.1. Three alignment configurations (Red, Yellow, and Orange) were studied for Sections 5 and 6, which are contiguous and begin in Metcalfe County at approximate MP 18.9 (near the intersection with KY 745) and ends in Green County near approximate MP 0.7 (near the intersection with KY 729). In all of the alternates, the minimum design criteria for rolling terrain meeting a 55 mph design speed for horizontal and vertical geometrics was utilized with no overlapping curve transitions.
