CDP Engineers is proud to announce that Kevin Cox, P.E. has joined their Lexington, KY office. Kevin joins CDP as a Transportation Project Manager and brings 26 years of transportation design and construction management experience to CDP. Hailing from Bowling Green, KY, Kevin graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1992 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. Straight out of college, Kevin started his career in Indianapolis with a design-build firm specializing in railroad construction projects. There he learned the valuable skills of linear transportation design, field surveying and cost estimating.
In 1998, Kevin returned to Lexington and has spent the last 18+ years with the same consulting firm, primarily working as a Project Manager in transportation design on many Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) highway design projects and the occasional airport and railroad project. Along the way there were opportunities to be an active participant in stormwater master plans, small site development projects, large industrial and institutional development projects, and flood control projects.
Transportation has been Kevin’s true passion and main career focus. He has been involved with many types of KYTC highway projects: rural and urban designs, widenings and relocations, roundabouts and interchanges, bypasses and LPA projects. He is very familiar with KYTC’s Highway Design Policies, Roadside Design, AASHTO’s Geometric Design Policies and Context Sensitive Design. He is also accomplished in utilizing MicroStation and InRoads design software. Ultimately, Kevin finds it very professionally rewarding to submit a completed set of high quality engineering plans to his clients.
Outside of the office, Kevin’s passion for all things transportation related continues. Look for Kevin at your local classic car show, air show and railroad museum. You may also see him backpacking through the woods; mankind’s original form of transportation. Or you may see Kevin just enjoying life in Lexington with his wonderful children, Ellen and Alex.
